Study in Europe - Enhancing Student MobilityConference: Study in Europe - Enhancing Student Mobility 10am, Tuesday 29 April 2008 – Victoria Quay, Edinburgh One of the main outputs of our project to engage Scotland's students in the Bologna process is a conference on student mobility. Scotland attracts a great number of students from all over Europe, but the number of Scotland’s students studying in another European country has not increased in the past few years. This is despite the obvious added value that studying abroad represents. Students’ associations and their societies can help promote student mobility as they have a privileged link with, and relevance to, students. Objectives of the conference The aim of this conference is to provide information on funding opportunities for students who wish to study in another European country. We also want to give them the opportunity to speak to students who have studied abroad. Workshops will then examine the existing barriers to mobility and set up a work plan to address those barriers (e.g. creation of information materials, organisation of information days etc.). European Student Working Group The conference will also be an opportunity to launch the European Student Working Group, which will help promote student mobility and other Bologna-related issues at a local level. This working group will help ensure the effective implementation of the work plan to overcome barriers to mobility, which will have been defined through the conference workshops. Target audience NUS Scotland would like to invite student officers, union staff or members of students’ associations to attend. Enthusiastic students who are already involved in international or European affairs or are interested in getting involved are also welcome.
